Army Sgt. DeForest L. Talbert, 24, of Charleston, W.Va.; assigned to the West Virginia National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 150th Armor Regiment from Beckley, W.Va.; killed in action when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle, on July 27 in Baladruc, Iraq.  
Army Spc. Nicholas J. Zangara, 21, of Philadelphia; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division from Schweinfurt, Germany; killed in action when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle, on July 24 in Tikrit, Iraq.  
Lance Cpl. Vincent M. Sullivan, 23, of Chatham, N.J.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died on July 23 due to injuries received from enemy action in Anbar Province, Iraq.  
Army Sgt. Tatjana Reed, 34, of Fort Campbell, Ky.; assigned to the 66th Transportation Company from Kaiserslautern, Germany; killed in action when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle, on July 22 in Samarra, Iraq.

Army Pfc. Charles C. Persing, 20, of Albany, La.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry, 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed July 19 when multiple mortar rounds hit his forward operating base in Iskandariyah, Iraq.

Army Spc. Craig S. Frank, 24, of Lincoln Park, Mich.; assigned to the 1775th Military Police Company, Michigan Army National Guard, Pontiac, Mich.; killed July 17 when his convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive device near Baghdad.  
Marine Lance Cpl. Bryan P. Kelly, 21, of Klamath, Ore.; assigned to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed July 16 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.  
Army Staff Sgt. Paul C. Mardis Jr., 25, of Palmetto, Fla.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.; died July 15 in Washington, D.C., of injuries sustained May 20 when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Mosul, Iraq.

Army Sgt. Michael C. Barkey, 22, of Canal Fulton, Ohio; assigned to the 1484th Transportation Company, Ohio National Guard, Akron, Ohio; killed July 7 when a tire blew out on the military vehicle in which he was riding, the driver lost control and the vehicle turned over in Ramadi, Iraq.
